Otalku Cafe - A Sign of Affection

The next winter show is the third of four romcoms for the season, and that is the wonderful show A Sign of Affection. The show follows a dead girl named Yuki who one day falls in love with Prince Charming, a traveling nomad named Itsuomi. The show follows them as they navigate their feelings and eventually their relationship, while also showcasing the challenges for their friends around them as well.
The story for this is mostly awesome!! Sympathy off the bat with the MC being deaf plays a big part early on. One of the best things about the show is it features college age adults, something that isn’t featured enough in Japanese animation. And our male MC is truly a remarkable human and someone men should genuinely try to emulate when getting to and being in a relationship. To boot, the show features 4 different love stories as a whole, our two MCs, the romantic loses of a childhood best friend and two high school crushes, as well as the best friend of Yuki and the cousin of Itsuomi. The latter isn’t nearly featured as the side characters more closer to the MCs, but each story has its own tale that help propel the relationship between Yuki and IItsuomi, as well as their own futures as well.
In addition, the show features what I voted as the animation of the season, featuring absolutely stellar color, spectacular visuals, and moments that make you stand in awe of the detail put in. And the musical composition is truly great in this show as well. This show won many of my seasonal awards, but one it did not win was romance of the season (I’ll talk about that one next). That said, I implore everyone to watch this show, available on Crunchyroll, and I easily gave this a strong 4/5!
