Hey everyone, this is Ethan from Otalku Cafe and I'll be posting anime reviews from 2024 into 2025 of every anime I've watched! Quick disclaimer, these are my personal opinions on each of the shows that I watch.
The next anime up for review is one that had some ups and downs, and that was season 2 of Banished From the Hero’s Party. Season 2 picks up big time with the appearance of Ruti’s replacement, the hero Van. However, van is a pretty dickish child who has no sort of empathy and lives purely by the dictations of his blessings, which get him in deep shit through the season. Most of the season focuses on Vans downward spiral and Red, Rit, Ruti, Tisse, Danan, and the rest of the gang having to pay the consequences for those, while trying to save Van from himself.
The show had a more serious path for most of the season, which was nice. There was also an unexpected amount of fan service as well, censored of course, but not bad in the grand scheme of the story, never feeling forced. The animation has always been solid, and the musical composition is fair. The ups and downs mentioned before focus around the story. the ups are that it was mostly centralized, which is good. And van, as an antagonist, filled his role about as good as anyone else in any anime I saw this season. The downs though was the final battle was anticlimactic and short. And the repercussions of Vans actions should have been harsher, but that’s not the style of this show, which is a let down.
